Peek Techniques in CS2: Jiggle, Shoulder, and Wide Peek

A peek is a decision, not a movement: a jiggle peek gathers info at no risk, a shoulder peek baits the AWP shot, a wide peek wins the duel against someone holding the angle tight. Your hands usually aren't the problem — players just peek every situation the same way. Ten minutes on an empty server or in DM is enough to lock in all three on real map angles.

What this drill is

Counter-strafing combined with peek types: shoulder / jiggle / wide / off-angle. Under CS2's sub-tick, a clean counter-strafe is rewarded more, and sloppy timing is punished harder.

How to train it

Where to train: Deathmatch (counter-strafe + stop before every shot) and aim_botz/Workshop to drill peeks on a fixed angle. Peeker's advantage carried over into CS2 — learn to use it.

Settings: no special convars needed. A counter-strafe is a short tap of the opposite key (~1 frame), NOT a hold.

Routine (10 min): 1. 3 min counter-strafing at a wall: A → short tap D → shot; D → short tap A → shot. First bullet accurate. 2. 3 min wide swing vs jiggle: a wide swing against an AWP/tight angle; a fast jiggle for info without shooting. 3. 2 min shoulder peek: show only your shoulder (not your head), bait the shot — re-peek for free. 4. 2 min off-angle: stand off the standard pixel, catch the enemy's crosshair in the wrong spot.

Common mistakes: holding the opposite key instead of a short tap (you slide back the other way); shooting before a full stop (first bullet whiffs); showing your head on a shoulder peek.

Why it matters in a match: the most direct carryover into duels — counter-strafing + peek discipline decide every gunfight. Metric — first-shot accuracy after a counter-strafe in DM.
