AK-47 and M4 Recoil Control in CS2: Recoil Master
Spray control is what finishes the kill: if your first bullet lands but the enemy stays up, blame recoil control. The metric is Spray Accuracy — 27% on average at 1k Premier, 31% at 10k, up to 35% for top players. Each weapon has its own pattern (AK ≠ M4 ≠ SMG), and at range the error amplifies — there a spray gives way to bursts. The clearest sign you need Recoil Master daily is a high HS% next to a low Spray Accuracy.
How many minutes of this drill do you actually need? DrillMaster decides from your matches — and schedules it when it pays off most.

Teaches you to control recoil and walk a spray along the pattern — compensating the AK/M4 'Christmas tree' so bullets land in the head, not the ceiling. Each weapon has its OWN pattern (AK ≠ M4 ≠ SMG) — you have to learn each one separately. At mid range, spray control wins duels you can't close with single shots.
How to train it
Map: "Recoil Master - Spray Training (CS2)" by uLLeticaL — the Workshop also has a dead CS:GO version, get CS2. Pick your weapon on the left; ghosthairs on the wall show the pattern: walk your crosshair along them while controlling recoil (the general shape is down, then side to side, but each gun's is its own).
Settings: • Your real sens and crosshair. • Infinite ammo + range (distance to the wall) — you'll need it for long-range practice. • Bullet Time helps early on to read the pattern in slow motion — turn it off afterward. • Leave auto-reset of the pattern on LMB release enabled.
Routine (15 min): 1. 3 min AK on the ghosthairs in Bullet Time, close to the wall: memorize the shape — down, then left-right. 2. 5 min AK at full speed: a full mag along the pattern, then 5-10 bullet bursts (you rarely dump all 30 in a match). Goal — all bullets tight, not spilling out of the circle. 3. 3 min M4 (A4 or A1-S — whichever you run) + UMP: each gun's pattern is its OWN (M4 softer, SMG shorter) — re-map the mechanic to each weapon. 4. 3 min distance: step back from the wall (range +) — at range the pattern is 'amplified': the same kick flies over the head. At long range switch to bursts/taps (2-4 bullets + a pause to reset); a full spray doesn't hold up at distance. 5. 1 min cool-down: compensate by feel, no peeking at the ghosthairs.
Common mistakes: only being able to do it with the guides on; always dumping all 30 (you need 5-10 bursts + re-strafe); training only close to the wall (it's all different at range); forgetting to counter-strafe before spraying; over-compensating (pulling the mouse down too hard).
Benchmark: spray grouping without ghosthairs and the first 5-10 bullets in the head/chest zone at close/mid range; at long range you switch to bursts. In matches this shows up in your Spray Accuracy and consistent spray kills.
