Death Review in CS2: A Checklist for Your Own Replays

Most deaths in MM repeat: same spot, same mistake, same 'no idea where that came from'. Death review is 15 minutes instead of an hour of demos: 2-3 deaths from your last session in Leetify's 2D replay. The takeaway is one rule for tomorrow, not ten. Positioning and decision-making don't get fixed by aim — review is what trains them.

How many minutes of this drill do you actually need? DrillMaster decides from your matches — and schedules it when it pays off most.

What this drill is

A quick review of 2-3 of your own deaths from last session in Leetify's 2D replay. Not an hour-long full demo review — a focused checklist: where you stood, why you died, whether you had utility, what info your team had. Trains positioning and decision-making — the things aim won't fix.

How to train it

Where: leetify.com → Matches → latest match → Rounds tab → pick the rounds where you died early/carelessly → 2D replay.

Routine (15 min): 1. Pick 2-3 deaths from last session: prioritize early-round deaths (first 30 seconds) and deaths you never saw coming. 2. For each death, run the checklist: — (1) WHERE were you and WHY there specifically? Was the position an off-angle / overplayed / with no escape? — (2) Did you have utility when you died? If so, why didn't you use it (flash for the peek, smoke to fall back)? — (3) What info did your team have? Did anyone see enemies before your death — and did you account for it? 3. Write down ONE takeaway for the session — a concrete rule for tomorrow ("don't re-peek without a flash", "fall back after the first frag on B").

Common mistakes: reviewing other people's highlights instead of your own deaths; watching the whole match end to end (loses focus); a takeaway like "shoot better" (that's not a positioning takeaway).

Metric: a written takeaway per session. The payoff — fewer repeating same-death patterns from week to week.
